About Ryan
Ryan was an important member of our community and family. He struggled with addiction and tried a number of things on his way to recovery. Yoga helped him on that journey.
Both the principles and the practice of yoga aligned with his sobriety program. He studied the philosophy and teachings of yoga and the spirit of selfless service to others. It was exactly what he needed to remain committed to his sobriety. And once he got it, he shared with others what worked for him.
He traveled around the world and spoke about his story, giving hope and inspiration to others. In the name of selfless service, he carried a message of hope to the addict who still suffers and changed lives. He embodied compassion, love, humour, and acceptance.
Ryan did not die an addict and through his memory his message continues to live on. One of the ways his message of hope stays alive is through this scholarship.
