Holiday Season Stresses Solved

It is the time of year where the stresses of the holiday season are high amongst all of the hustle and bustle, but this can be a perfect opportunity to practice all of the yoga tools you have absorbed in the last year.

Here are some great Holiday tips that you can follow to make this season full of joy and ease;

1. Break out the Yoga Mat at home. Create the space to come into a little bit of time for you. We can get so wrapped up in making sure everyone else has what they need during the holidays that sometimes, we forget about ourselves. Make YOU a priority. Even if that means one sun salutation or 5mins of Savasana.

2. Incorporate some meditation into your day and find some silence in this seasons’ chaos. Even a few minutes a day can bring you the much needed grounding and peace .It is also a perfect time to reflect on what is important to you during this Holiday. When we have a clearer vision of what we want to use this time for or who with, perceptions can shift and a sense of lightheartedness and contentment can come to light.

3. Practice your pranayama techniques. Breathing in through your nose and exhaling through your nose will create warmth in the belly while giving off a calming effect. It will definitely help those frenzied moments during the mall or on the roads.

4. Rest,rest and more rest. Get ample amounts of sleep and be kind to yourself. With the colder weather and the blowing wind our bodies are on high alert. Listen to the signs your body gives you, take the steps to honour them and send yourself some love.

And most of all remember that during this hectic time, we may fall off of routines and indulge in foods we may not normally eat a lot of … so send yourself some instant forgiveness and compassion.

See you in 2013!
