November: Kari Morgan

My love affair with yoga started out slowly. I sampled, went away and thought about it, then came back for more. Eventually, a knee injury demanded that I sit up, take stock and use the time on my mat to heal. I never looked back!

Halifax Yoga is my community. I feel at home every time I walk through the door. It is where I practice, where I took my teacher training and now, where I teach. The heart and soul of the studio welcomes and accepts you where you are, right at this moment. That is what it offers me each time I come to my mat and that is what I aim to offer the students who come to my classes.

Teaching is my way to share my passion for yoga. My Monday Flow class is my opportunity to play- I mix things up each class to keep your body guessing and to keep you present. No autopilot allowed! While the room isn’t heated, you will be sure to sweat. Sundays I slow things down with a soulful Yin practice where you can sink into your breath and into the earth. Warning- you may be totally blissed out at the end.

I have to confess, I am a total anatomy geek, so I love cuing alignment, trying new poses to find those hidden muscles and giving assists to help students experience poses differently. All my classes are taught with an understanding of what it is like to practice yoga with an injury and with all of the wild and crazy strengths and limitations that come along with our bodies. I will offer you modifications and challenges and urge you to take the option which best serves you in the moment.
